I started buying cheerio's by the case because we have 3 miniature goats that LOVE cheerio's way cheaper to buy them this way then one box at a time.Cheerios Original Cereal, 12 Ounce (340g)-- 14 per case, by Cheerios. The General Mills Cheerios packaging and "Nutrition Facts" both seem to make frequent minor changes, so the 8.9 ounce package will have Saturated Fat 0g, Potassium 170mg, versus Saturated Fat 0.5g, Potassium 180mg on the 12 ounce package. Why the differences? Changed recipe? Corrected measurements? Different factory? Difference in available ingredients? Who knows. The Total Fat is the same at 2g, and the Cholesterol is the same at 0mg. The 8.9 ounce box has a "% Daily Value" of Riboflavin 25% and Magnesium 10%, versus Riboflavin 2% and Magnesium 8% on the 12 ounce box. They certainly taste the same. General Mills, sorry about the yellow rain on your parade, but I think the whole thing is more of a marketing ploy than a real difference between the cereals. Trivia for cereal buffs, so to speak. Please, give me a break.Cheerios is another oldie but goodie cereal that has been around for what seems like an eternity. It tastes the same now as it did 60 years ago when I was a kid. It is still a very good cereal that anyone would like, although it can become tiresome over time, and begin to taste like pieces of cardboard. I can't drink whole milk anymore, but the cereal tastes fine with milk that is lactose free and only 2% fat.According to WikipediA: "Cheerios was introduced on May 1, 1941 as CheeriOats. The name was changed to Cheerios in 1945 due to a trade name dispute with Quaker Oats. Cinnamon Nut Cheerios was the first departure from original Cheerios in mid-1976. Second was Honey Nut Cheerios, introduced in 1979. All Cheerios shipped to the eastern coast of the United States and eastern Canada are manufactured at the General Mills plant in Buffalo, New York. In 2009, a dispute developed, regarding the FDA considering Cheerios an "unapproved new drug" because of its marketing and health claims. In January 2014, General Mills announced that it will halt the use of genetically modified ingredients in original Cheerios."The Nutrition Facts, as listed on the box side panel:Serving Size 1 cup (28g, Servings Per Container, about 12.Amount Per Serving: Calories 100 (Calories from fat 15 ).Total Fat 2g (Saturated Fat 0g, Trans Fat 0g, Polyunsaturated Fat 0.5g, Monounsaturated Fat 0.5g).Cholesterol 0mg.Sodium 140mg.Potassium 180mg.Total Carbohydrate 20g (Dietary Fiber 3g, Soluble Fiber 1g, Sugars 1g, Other Carbohydtrates 16g).Protein 3g.Ingredients: Whole Grain Oats, Corn Starch, Sugar, Salt, Tripotassium Phosphate, Wheat Starch, Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols) Added to Preserve Freshness.According to WikipediA: "Tripotassium phosphate is a water-soluble ionic salt which has the chemical formula K3PO4. It is used as a food additive for its properties as an emulsifier, foaming agent and whipping agent. In combination with fatty acids, it is a potential antimicrobial agent in poultry processing."As noted on the 12 ounce cereal box, but not on the 8 ounce cereal box: "Not made with genetically modified ingredients."Exchange: 1 ½ starch, based on Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and American Diabetes Association criteria.Ships from and sold by Books And So Much More.(C) 2014 General Mills.
