i havent used a lot of charcoal pencils , only prismcolors and conte , and this one is the best by far , (still have to try derwents, fabercastell and other brands) so far i dont have anything negative to say about this pencil , the charcoal is pure and very consistent , smooth , no little rocks inside , very comfortable pencil to work with , it comes in diffferent gradations , i have used the B one mostly , it is smooth as a willow charcoal but it can achieve rich black of a compressed charcoal , i dont know what sorcery is this , its absolutely brilliant what they did with these pencils , my hats off to general pencil company
