Used for drawing quilting patterns. The lines got fainter as I rolled and unrolled the quilt on my sewing machine. I needed to redraw some of the lines to be able to see them. Low risk of leaving a mark.It works great but you need to be careful as it does break easily for the expenseI was not happy with this order. I was ordering using points obtained on Citi Card. The order was instead, charged to my Citi Card.Sometimes it's hard to find a tool to do just one job, really well. The Bohin Extra Fine Mechanical Chalk Pencil makes a fine line on fabrics and will be easy to remove. These refills give an alternative to the white "leads" that usually come with the pencil, and solve the problem of marking on the pastel colors and prints. They don't require water for removal, so they are kind to silks as well as cottons. I am really pleased. It is now a year later. I have been using my pencil regularly, changing the color of the leads as needed to be visible on my fabric. I continue to be very happy with the pencil and the refills! No problems at all with the pencil. I need a really fine fine line on my projects, since my special interest is in heirloom sewing where small size, narrow seams, and delicate embroidery is the norm.Works great for marking my fabric when in the middle of a sewing project. I originally ordered the white, and was so happy went back for the green.purchased this to make marks on fabric while I quilt. the chalk is very thin so it makes a very precise line on the fabric without breaking. Love it.Not as "chalky" as the white that came with the pencil but better than anything else I've used. Don't turn it too far out or lean too hard as it will break but save the little pieces and just put them back in.This chalk pencil lead was all I could have wanted for quilt marking. And I have tried them all. I was able to make a lighter or darker marking with a slight change of pressure on the pencil. The effort was similar to using a graphite pencil on a piece of paper (easy). Marking my project used very little of the lead. The lead did not break while I was marking. I am about half way through the project now and there is no fading of the markings due to handling (I'm hand quilting). I'll be stocking up.
